I stupidly bought a 9800Gx2 thinking it would work with this motherboard.
But the 975x chipset has a 2x8 PCI-E bus with dual GPUs. The 9800Gx2 requires a single 1x16 bus. The 975x chipset sets the bus to 2x8 mode if it detects two GPUs I believe - EVEN IF the two GPUs are on one slot. If it detects 1 GPU it goes to 1x16.
So things aren't working well for me. I can run my 9800Gx2 only in single GPU mode.
Before I get a new mobo, I was curious if there is a way to disable the second PCI-E slot in the bios and to force the PCI-E 1st slot into 1x16 mode when using the 9800Gx2 in multi-GPU mode. After all, the slot can do 1x16 and I'm only using one PCI-E slot.
