On the temperature settings of forcewave driver, it is stated:

Max Threshold: 145C

but when i play BF2, reaching around 91C-92C, nvidia automatically donwclocks my gpu from 500/1000 to 500/500. Is this driver related?

Is my temp normal? 62 idle -92 max load??

well... i have two ultras running in my case (evga 6800 ultras) slightly oc'd, and they are running at about... lemme check... 61 idle.. which is normal, and about 76-9 load so i must think that yours is running very hot....and i see that you have four auxiliary fans... that seems to be especially hot. i don't know why it would underclock for you. although, you are running it oc'd? i'd assume so, right?

Nope, not overclocked at all... at stock 500/1000. I am also wondering why it automatically underclocks... inconsistent with the driver, that the threshold to go underclock is 145C. wonder why, maybe the mems killing everything. because instead of underclocking the core, the mem got the hit, from 500/1000 to 500/500...

btw addinator, ur system totally rocks..!!!

You have a 6600 GT and 4 extra fans and it reaches 92C? That's unreal! I have a 6600 GT and no extra fans and it has yet to reach 60C under load.

Defective card maybe?

I am seeing the same problem although I am not certain that it is heat related. It might be power related. This only happens for me in BF 2.

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
2x BFG 6600 GT OC in SLI
A64 Winchester 3200+ (@ 2.3GHz)
1 Gig Corsair PC3200 DDR

When I play BF 2 in 1280x960 resolution with AA at 2x and most other settings at medium the game is quite enjoyable. . .for a while. Then it starts to slow down. If I Alt-Tab out to the desktop I can see the little nVidia popup alert telling me the GPU has been throttled down but the message seems like it is more a low power related issue. I check the control panel and the temp is around 85 C on both GPU's. They idle around 60 C. The thermal throttle down threshold (if I believe what the control panel tells me) isn't until 145 C. This problem will only occur when I put the resolution up to 1280x960 (max option available to me in the video settings for some reason). If I put it down to 1024x768, the problem doesn't happen. Now 85 C might be hot but that is well shy of the thermal throttle down limit listed at 145 C. I wonder if there is a driver error where they confuse C and F for throttling down. Isn't 85 C roughly about 145 F? I am going to try and roll back my ForceWare drivers one version or so and see if it still happens. I use the most recent 77.72 ones right now.
