nvidia has a new driver sitting on their server. 95.97

Still downloading, so no comments to make just yet, however as these drivers are Quadro centric, they should be very good.

I have always wanted to know the answers to these following questions:

1) What are the significant differences if any between XTreme-G Forceware drivers and the N-Forceware ones?

2) Why would you prefer one or another?
 
Xtreme-G drivers generally tidy up loose ends in the drivers and tweak IQ to be the best the driver is capable of delivering.

There is not Xtreme-G version of this driver available yet or a tweakerizer, but one thing that they'll probably fix with such a release is the old control panel not working properly with this release. The line

HKLM,"Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies",SedonaDisable, %REG_DWORD%,2

needs to be inserted into the .inf file for proper support.
 
Well, if G80 and the new nforce boards have made it into reviewers hands like CM suggests, they'd also need drivers.
 
These drivers are for the Quadro Plex stuff, all the changes mentioned in the release notes involve Sedona, not gaming stuff...

The following are changes made and issues resolved in driver version 95.97:
? Sedona: Synchronize Displays link is not available when primary display is not connected to G-Sync card.
? Sedona, 2 × Quadro FX 4500, WinXP: Unable to return to Landscape mode after a Rotate.
? Sedona: Unable to turn on SDI in Dualview mode from nView display page.

Here is the entire 95.97 directory on the NVIDIA ftp server:

You can see that they only exist under the sub-directory Quadro_Certified, and not in the Windows parent directory.

Which one would be best for gaming, using high res, say for 1680x1050 & 19201x1200 displays?
XTremeG or NForceware?

 
I always prefer the Xtreme-G driver myself. If you want to experiment between the two, I'd recommend downloading the stock nvidia version and applying the XG tweakerizer for that driver (if available) instead of using the Xtreme-G driver. The recent tweakerizers can be removed and you can usually choose between quality or performance.

To put it simple, XTreme-G=better, no matter what you do with it.

The only thing XG drivers really have (besides a installer and a tweaked install image) is that there nvdisp.inf was modified to give better performance and IQ. Now the performance really doesn't raise that much (probably not enough to be noticible, but sometimes you will get a sizeable gain), but the IQ does get better.

I always use XG drivers!! I was there back when they started when they were called Valance Studios (Still XG drivers though). And whats more if you have any problems, JRD1ST and Daishi are always a pleasure to work with, as is everyone else at their forums.

As for the blue screen, well assuming you did install these on an Nvidia card of course you are going to get a blue screen. They are made for the Quadro series. TO use them on regular cards you are going to have to obtain the modded .inf file which gives support the the other Nvidia cards.
