Forceware 77.77 screwed my comp up...

The 77.77 drivers have screwed my comp up...I can't play any video. No video what so ever. I started off by doing the usual for installing drivers...uninstiall, rebooting into safe mode, nuking the drivers with driver cleaner, then rebooting again and installing the new drivers from nvidia. All went well and I thought things were good until I tried to watch some venture brothers on my comp. Both Winamp and Microsofts media player would eat my resources, 99% of the CPU time was given to them.

I tried uninstalling and going back to the old drivers, but the problem remained. I then noticed more problems with WoW, and said the hell with it, I needed to clean this thing anyway...reformat. STILL having the same problems with 77.77. So its either the drivers, or my video card got messed up on the new driver install and it carried over trough the reformat. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

Running XP Professional with all the updates from microsoft, also have a 6600 GT, p4 2.4, 1 gig of ram.

Sounds like a codec problem to me. Drivers don't screw up your PC FYI and I'm running the 77.77 as well, no problems at all.

I'll try different codecs, but any other suggestions as to the problem are more then welcome as well.

People with the 77.xx drivers and have over bright video playback. You can fix the problem like so.

Control Panel, Display, Settings, Advanced, Click on corresponding Video Card Tab

On left menu:
Click Color correction, in the apply color changes to combo box, select "overlay", Under Color Profile in the same dialog, Select Advanced Mode, click apply.

This will set the Gamma to the correct setting automaticly.
