Force vista to open full screen

is there a reg setting to adjust that forces all screens to open full screen, ie explorer, programs and all, then i could minimize as needed ?

Don't know about a reg hack. Open IExplore (or any other program), non maximixed, drag the edges to where you want them, close it up and it should reopen just the way you left it.

It basically opens them the same size as you last closed them.

that doesnt do what i am looking for.

i want to be able to reduce the page size to half size from full screen [without draging the corners around] , but when internet explorer or an application is opened it opens full screen as the default mode.

It works the same way. Start full screen. Then adjust the size of the Restore Down window to 1/2 screen (I use vertical). The go back to full screen. The when you restore down, it will use the size you set until you change it. Minimize works with either full screen or Restore Down - all it does it put the window on the task bar at whatever size it was.

ok i have tried the solutions above.

this is what happens, i have a shortcut on my desktop to anandtech, i doubleclick on the desktop shortcut, it opens IE 'anandtech' to a minimized window, i grab the corners with my mouse and size the window to full screen, when i close that window and reopen it i have to drag the corners again to full screen or use the maximize box again, i would like to have IE always open full screen, can this be done ?

i have also deleted all my desktop shortcut icons, opened the website and maximized the window using the drag corner approch, created a new desktop icon, closed the window and reopened it again, it still opens in a minimized window, i have to do this everytime, there has to be a way to fix this.

The best way to fix it is to remove the Anadtech shortcut from your desktop, and put it in your IE links ubnder Favorites. I have it that way in both XP and Vista, and it works perfectly.

i had already tried deleting all desktop icons, the only problem that still exist is in the 'favorites' folder.

as of now IE desktop icon launches in a full screen, any of the favorites launch in a minimized window, i have tried the ctrl & shift buttons i various ways without any success.

is there way to have all those open in full screen mode ?

I use AutoSizer (freeware app) to do this.

My Favorites always opn in just the screen i left them in. You may have a problem in your IE program somewhere. Can you try it with Firefox and see if it works correctly?

maximize the window (the middle one of the 3) , NOT by dragging the corners

next..
hit the button again to go into non maximize mode, size the window how you want

then hit the maximize window button again, you should be able to flip between them

if you want it to open in maximized mode, you need to have the window maximized when you close it..it will save your partial sized window size as well

thats about as close as you can get that i know of
