It might help if you mentioned what version of Nero you are using.

I'm guessing you are using a recent version, and as I'm still using a 5.x version, me telling you that Nero Express has a Writing speed drop down box on the Final Burn Settings page probably won't help you...

Well I'm using version 6. And I'm having problems burning CDRs that work in my cars mp3-CD player, probably because it's getting old. I'd like to burn the CDR at 2x or 1x to see what's wrong with it. Maybe it can no longer handle 8x?

NERO 6?
OK, if you open up Nero Burning ROM, the last tab called "Burn" has a drop down menu for Write Speed. Mine only goes down to 4x.

You could try using the drive analysis tools (if you havent already) and see if nero unlocks more speeds for your drive.

In Nero Express there is a Write Speed pull down menu on the last page before you hit the burn button.

If so, you will want to find some older cdr's that are rated for 1x/2x/4x etc.

Slow burn speeds mean the laser puts out less energy, but over a greater amount of time.
Fast burn speeds mean the laser puts out more energy over a smaller amount of time.

The chemicals in your cdr disc likely will not burn correctly with less energy coming from the laser, and your resulting disc will probably be a coaster.

Nero 6 does support those burn speeds, and so does many of the newer drives, I've got some old 4x cdr/w discs that still work in my new DL DVD-R drive.
