Force needed to attach am2 heatsink?

I am just wondering how much force is required to attach a heatsink on an am2. I had to push down quite a bit to get the bracket to slip over the plastic clips. I was installing an artic cooling 64 pro and about 20 minutes later the plastic clip snapped off.
