Force Feedback Racing Wheel For GT5?

I'm going to do this game right, as it's going to be the best racing game ever released, and a wheel just takes it to the next level.

On obvious choice would be the Logitech GT wheel, but are there any others that have out of the box compatibility with GT5? Thrustmaster has some wheels that have caught my eye, and if there was one that could be used on PC as well, that would be a plus.

What would you recommend, or is there a new release on the horizon for this game from Saitek/Madcatz or Logitech?

Thanks!

Well when the game comes out in 2015, i am sure there will be something better out.

Honestly, the Logitech is the best thing out there right now.

I'm not aware of any "on the horizon" wheel releases. Your choices at this point are pretty much the Logitech Driving Force GT, the Logitech G25 or G27, or possibly even a Fanatec wheel (not sure if or how compatible they are though).

I've used the DFGT and a G25 fairly extensively. The DFGT is a good wheel and is very well suited for PS3 driving. It includes all the regular PS3 buttons and is tailored specifically for GT. The G25/G27 obviously sports a better fit and finish, and the force feedback is much better/smoother compared to the DFGT. I honestly think, though, that if you're buying a wheel just for GT5, then get the DFGT. If you're wanting to expand to simulation racing on the PC though, might as well do it right the first time and pick up a used G25 or new G27.

Thanks alot!

I'll probably just go with the DFGT since $200+ is a bit out of my range at this point, although I love how those look.

Thanks again for the info! I'm assuming the DFGT will be equally compatible for GT5 as Prologue, I don't see why not, but you never know.

If I were buying a wheel just for GT5, I'd wait until GT5 is released (or confirmed 100% coming out in a couple days) and look at the wheels then. There might be a new Logitech out or even an updated version of other wheels.

That's really not bad advice. I've not heard of any new wheels coming out, but the DFGT was made 2-3 years ago when it was assumed GT5 would see the light of day by mid-2009 at the latest. Who knows if they have a new model in the works.

Well, coincidentally, Logitech has a Dented Box deal for that wheel, brand new for $76.99 with free shipping, buy now!?

I personally wouldn't hesitate or worry about a new wheel coming out, but you never really know. That's a really good price assuming the wheel is in like-new condition and has a warranty.

Done! Is guaranteed in new condition with new warranty, at half what many are selling it for! Woot!

Thanks again for your input guys!

I had a G25 for a long time, then I retired from PC racing and swore I'd never buy a Delay-Station3 even for GT5, and so I sold my G25. Since GT5 seem to be vapor aka Gran Turismo Forever I moved onto Forza2/3 and though the Microsoft wheel is a decent piece I had played it on controller for so long the transition to the wheel was painful. I would not blow the cash on a Fanatec for all the problems they are known to have, and a G27 is too pricey for just GT5. I think I'll look for a used G25 rather than the Driving Force GT unit.

I have a G27.. but I've been using it for PC and PS3 games. GT5P, Grid, NFS:Shift.. maybe gonna try the F1 game out. The delay in GT5 is really making me consider it even more.
