Just upgraded to XP home and guess what? No forcefeedback effects in il2 Forgotten Battles or anything else for that matter.

The joystick works fine and i have tension in the game but no effects, like firing the guns etc etc.

I have had some problems testing it in the joystick properties. The settings are all on high.

So has anyone else had this problem? Have you managed to fix it?

The forcefeedback effect were excellent in il2 and win98se.

I have heard that xp doesnt support the ff2 joystick and drivers fully. Which is weird as they are both MS products. I even heard they knew of the issue but had no plans to issue a fix. Anyone heard of this?

I am gonna have a scout around but i thought this would be the best place to check first.

i just bought a MS Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback this weekend, as well as IL2 forgotten battles.

i didnt bother to install the drivers, i just plugged it in and it detected and set up everything itself.

did you turn on the joystick hardware support in the IL2 options?

i think it was under the hardware option menu under the main menu.

Upgrading to XP can screw-up a lot of peripherals.

The recommended way is to un-install the software, drivers and devices BEFORE doing the upgrade, then re-installing after, with down-loaded XP-compatible versions if available.

In your case, an un-install and re-install of everything might work. No guarantees, but try it.

Which version of the SW software are you running? If its an older stick (green light, new ones are red light) that came in the teal box, chances are it came with the older 2K and previous OS drivers. Its the same version that is listed as the latest on Microsoft's Sidewinder Support page, and its only like ver. 3.xx. I bought my FF2 back in December in that BB deal ($20 after 2 rebates and PM :D), and it was the black box version with the red light. The install CD it came with was like 4.xx and it specifically said XP support on the box's label as well as the software itself.

If that's the case and you can't find the new version on the internet, PM me and I'll see if I can e-mail the drivers or burn a copy for you.

Thanks guys.

The SW version i think is 4.0 and i have got that off the net. My joystick is the older version apparantly, with the green light. Anyway the effects still dont work with xp so its really annoying.

Do you have the same version as me chizow? I am sure i have the latest version i can find on the net. But still no effects. I have xp home with sp1 installed.

thanks again.
