Force Displayport Handshake?

I have a 28inch Dell 4K monitor in my kitchen that is attached to a Chromebox via Displayport. I leave the unit running 24/7 because if I turn off the monitor is loses handshake with the Chromebox forcing a reboot cycle. The Chromebox works fine with other displays and other computers do the same thing with the monitor so I know it's the display. Is there any sort of displayport switch or something I can put in the middle for force a handshake 24/7 without leaving the monitor on?
