Force delete a file?

Is there a program to force delete a directory. I have 2 folders that have appearead from programs, and moving data around. I am using Windows XP sp2

1) is a folder with the name, aplsdkfj[oai[dlknf[aioefu'akl;jdsf'lkajdsp;lfiapdohfka
- graciously placed on my D: drive (2nd hdd) by Visual Studio .net.
- i really have no idea why it placed this folder here, because i installed the program on my c drive

2) The other one is a folder called "Microsoft user data"
- from a backup, i had to backup quick so i just copied my whole home directory off my Powerbook. The folder came from Microsoft office.

These have existed through a format (of my C drive, so these folders shouldn't have any association with any programs on the current install of windows), so i dunno what the crap is going on.

Well, there's always DBAN. What I'd do first, is to

1) start Windows Setup from CD-ROM

2) delete all the partitions shown on the hard drive

3) exit Windows Setup after deleting the partitions

4) start Windows Setup a second time, partition, format and carry on, sheltered by a firewall or else not networked until a firewall is up, of course.

That ought to get rid of your problem directories.

What's permitting you from just deleting them? Are you getting the cannot delete error? If so, try deleting them from safe mode

I can't delete the partitions, i have about 130 gigs of backup on my D drive, and no where to put it to accomplish the task.

As for the reason i can't.

For number 1, i get a file is in use error, although i have uninstalled the program, and nothing is using the folder/files any more.

The 2nd one is really odd. I get an error saying, cannont find/locate file, please check file location... or something allong those lines. Clearly i can see the file, and something is registering that it is there.

rmdir /s /q directoryname

That might do it. If not, try either the utility that Slikkster posted, or try Killbox. With Killbox, check the option "End Explorer.exe while killing file" and then have Killbox work its magic.
