Force 2007WFP Resolution

The 2007WFP has a native resolution of 1680x1050. I'm going out from my laptop using a standard VGA cable. However, I can't seem to be able to select that option.... (even PowerStrip doesn't give it to me). I'm stuck at lower / malformed resolutions.

This doesn't make sense, because I previously was able to output from the exact same laptop to a 2405FPW... which runs at 1920x1200. So, I don't think I should be limited by the capabilities of my graphics card (even though it isn't all that good). This is temporary.

Is there a utility I can use to force it?

[By the way, the 2007WFP is wayyyy smaller than the 2405FPW. I'm amazed at the difference. I couldn't believe it when it arrived in a box that small. I sold the 2405FPW b/c it was too bright, but I might have to try it again.]

Have you tried installing the driver or whatever from the CD?

Hmm, this might've been the problem I was having. I was trying output to a 1680x1050 monitor from an Inspiron 6000 with X300. It seems that I could only get 800x600 max resolution though for some reason.

I don't think that integrated controller even supports that resolution. I tried setting my mom's 17" LCD to 1280x1024 and it wouldn't budge, I had to use 1024x768. Pretty pathetic (not to mention it doesn't even have DVI). Might be a way though. My mom has "extreme graphics", but I'm not sure if its 1 or 2. But it doesn't make any sense that it would support 1900x1200 then.

Yeah, my initial thoughts would be the same: Well, it doesn't support that resolution...

But it does support up to 1600x1200 (just in the normal dialogue box), and I remember running it at ultra-high resolution on the 2405FPW. So, I think it has the capacity to output the resolution, but I just can't get there...

And, yes, I did install the driver. Thought that would fix it... but no cigar.

Hmm.

And you're certain it was running 1920x1200? Was it maybe at 16 or 8 bit color and not 24 or 32 or whatever? I think I could get higher resolutions if I went to like 8 bit color, but it didn't really look any better so it was pointless.

I'm in the same shoes, I had the 2405 sold it for two 2007... but one of my 2007 won't go to the correct resolution no matter what I try.....

700m Intel Graphic Chipset does not support 1680x1050. It said so in the product page for Dell widescreens back in the day which I cannot find anymore now. I think the minimum requirement for the laptops was the X300SE. 700m only has an intregated shared one that ironically only supported 1920x1200 but not the LG/Phillips unique 20-21" LCD 16:10 resolution of 1680x1050.
