Armada is ok(especially if you catch on to the Sidewinder-Unicron relation), but the problem with both series is that they're all originally done in Japan, whereas the original series was American. That tends to put a crimp on things, since the plots are already written in a way that captivates the Japanesse audience, but even with translation work, the basic framework is uninteresting to older American viewers. RID didn't have a chance anyhow, Fox kept shifting it around(that and someone screwed up and didn't hire Gary Chalk as Optimus).
