I want to be able to put my 5.1 rear speakers further away or up in a corner of my room..... but i don't have enough cable. The connection on the speaker is a male RCA connection that plugs into the sub. What would be the best way to extend the distance....wether it be slicing the cable, or a connector...etc.

?

If you can splice it you should do that because a conector is going to add more noise to the wire

If its RCA then just get RCA extension cables. I think they make those. If not, then get RCA female-female couplers and get some cheap interconnects. That way, no splicing. I doubt you'd notice the added noise.

RCA speakers cables?
I doubt it

It shouldn't matter if you use interconnects instead. I doubt the speaker system is gonna over power the wires. Besides, cheap RCA's usually have a pair of individually insulated conductors of equal size in them anyway.

i think he means RCA connectors for the speaker cables... that's what i've been wondering about too.. are you sure they're not just your average speaker cable? (terminated by bare wire/banana plugs)

the way i extend my cables is i go to home depot and buy a longer cable. even the 12 gauge stuff i use is 33 cents a foot, and they probably sell cheap 50' cable for like $5 (24 gauge prolly)
