you think this guy should not get the chair.

And don't give me the "cost" issue, cause to me this guy should be fried at all costs.

Nothing like a death penalty discussion to get people riled up in the morning.:D

It is more cost effective to have them killed rather than sit in jail for the rest of their lives. But why bother killing them, we don't gain anything from it. Except seeing the person die, and many of them would rather die than live with what they have done. So make them live, or perhaps we should get some kind of mandatory organ donor program going... you kill someone you lose your organs to people who are more deserving than you.

I support capital punishment, but I'd rather see this guy's arms sawed off while he's still alive than see him fry in a chair. Bleeding to death would be fitting punishment.

Get the mother while you're at it, how the hell could she NOT know something was up?

Healed leg fractures & rib damage?

What would killing him solve? I don't know, I just don't see where killing him would solve anything. Can't bring the girl back if she dies nor can it reverse what has happened. Put him in a cell and throw away the key. Let that piece of sh1t live in a cell for the rest of his life and have him experience a federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison.

Because Justice isn't about revenge.

Sure, there is little else I would like to see than this man suffer, but that's not my call to make. I'd rather this man rot in prison for the rest of his life and not die, than have an innocent man executed under death penalty statutes, which has happened before.

In short, no matter how grisly the crime, there is a chance that an innocent could be executed. (Think "the hurricane") and although some people might deserve to die, that's putting a whole lot of faith in a flawed justice system to never make a mistake. The only greater crime than letting this man go would be to kill someone innocent in his place.

Depends on your world outlook. "An eye for an eye" or tolerance? (ie he will pay in the next life) Personally I beleive there is nothing bad enough we can do to him in this life that would be an adequate punishment for such a heinous act.

i like the organ donation idea.

commit murder = 1 kidney, 1 lung to be donated
commit 2nd murder = 2 testicles on top of what was donated in previous murder
commit rape = 1 testicle
commit 2nd rape = 2 testicles

And that means what exactly? Just because something is popular/unpopular doesn't make it right/wrong.

To me justice IS about revenge. Have some of your close family members murdered (like me I lost two grandparents over a robber who wanted some of their antique coins) and you might change your mind.

I say do the opposite of what the criminal fights for in court. Some of them want the death penalty and say so publicly. Give those people life in prison. Some people fight hard to get life in prison - give those people the death penalty. Give them exactly what they don't want for the most revenge possible.

Of course though I reserve life in prison and the death penalty for crimes where the person cannot be innocent (like when they are caught in the act of murdering people).

Now if we could have cruel and unusual punishment (like torture) then I'd be against the death penalty. I'd like to see murders tortured for life. Instead though they get a comfy room with free food, free weight lifting and exercises, free computers, free TV, free education. Damn that isn't punishment at all.

because it's twisted....killing someone is just not right regardless of what they did. I think life in prison is a far worse punishment than the death penalty anyway.

I don't feel it has a place in today's modern society. It's left over from barbaric, uncivilized times.

Guy A murders Guy B. Now you want to put Guy A to death. Isn't that murder too? What does it solve? You're just killing another person.

YES he should be punished, there is absolutely no question about that. Put him in jail (not a comfy room and all that bull) and make him work. His work should pay for retribution of the family. Money cannot replace what you lost but neither does killing his guy and he can be of some use to society this way.

I think there's alternative solutions to the death penalty that are more logical and fit in today's society. Just my thoughts.

Kill the sick little bastard. Screw him and his "rights." Our planet will be a better place without trash like him.

I am a big believer in the thought that if you murder someone, you have given up your right to life. My problem with the death penalty is that the state doesn't have the right to take your life.

My solution is to go out and kill anyone who fscks with my mother, sister, wife, etc... knowing that few juries would convict me.

So if someone rapes two girls, they get a free vascestomy?

I'm up for death penalty, but we do it wrong.

Energy cost for electric chair - $30 (First it shocks its victim for 22 seconds at between 1,800 and 1,900 volts, then drops for 12 seconds to between 700 and 800 volts, and finishes with a five-second burst back at 1,800 volts. If the condemned has an average-size body, he or she would sustain a current of about six amps, then a lower current of about two amps and a final jolt at six. -Monel)

Hanging (Lumber, rope, blindfold) - Alot

Lethal Injection - $Too Much

Death by rubber spatula - Priceless

Where do you get that idea? I've heard of plenty of vigilantes going to jail.
