how much does it usually cost to run a typical AC unit continuously for a month?

What do you consider a typical AC unit? Size? SEER? Electric rates in your area.

930 watts...approx 18.65 cents per hour of running time

What will make the big difference is in how long it runs daily, how well insulated the room is, and how much the temperature differential is (ambient room temp vs. desired temp)
IF the unit runs 12 hours per day (solid, non-stop total run time, it will cost about $2.25 per day...of course, without knowing all the variables, YMMV...and my calculations are only based on rated wattage and your advertised electric rate per KWh, so it's only close, not dead accurate.

hmm... i guess i could consider the worse case at about $3.00 per 12 hours.

so... 3.00 x 30 days a month = 90.00 per month.

You're in Hawaii and you think that you're only going to run your AC for an hour a day?

Edit: Looking at your math you're calculating $3 a day, you just wrote $3 per hour x 30.

I have no idea, but I use a single room A/C in my bedroom and my kill-a-watt told me that it used about 2 kwh to run it for 8 hours while I was sleeping (12x12 room). But the night I measured it wasn't a particularly hot night.
