For under $500, which vedio card is the best for 3DS Max?

I want to build a workstation to work for 3DS Max, my maximum budget for the vedio card is $500, does anyone know which vedio card I should buy?

Thanks a lot!!

Ditto. The Geforce 2 and Quadro boards have very stable 3D Studio Max drivers. If you mod it into a Quadro 2 and use Win2K or WinNT, then don't forget to select 3D Studio Max in the OGL settings display settings to turn on some 3D Studio Max specific settings for your video card.

Good luck modding it, I tried with my Geforce 1, and I had gotten one of those little thingys off don't know what they are called, I took and deep breath and it was gone, gone with the wind 🙁

My video card still works, but I have to force the driver onto it and it says it's a Riva TNT somewhere in control panel.

my geforce2 works wonders in 3DSMAX. Doesn't render the image in perfect fashion, but its a lot better than when I was using an old riva 128.
