For today's games/apps 2600k vs 3570k?

Already have an Asus z77 motherboard to go with either chip and I have both chips in hand. Will be doing overclocking with an ancient H70 cooler that still works. With today's apps/games being more HT aware would you still take the 3570k over the 2600k for IPC, power consumption, and PCI-E 3.0? Will likely be paired with a 290x.....

2600K unless the power consumption is of vital importance to you. Aside from the power consumption IB isn't really an improvement over SB it has a bit higher IPC but it is negated by a lower clock-headroom so depending on luck even an oced 3770K may end up slower than OCed 2600K. IB was a good improvement for laptops I know because I have one but for desktops it is totally meh, especially without deliding.
