Shot in the dark, blindfolded and hung upside down, but if someone has a Hackintosh with a Q9400, with VMware Fusion and a Windows installation, could you open CPU-Z and see if it tells you that you have a Q9400 Engineering Sample? Mine's giving me that I have an ES and I want to see if it's the VMware Virtualization software that's giving it the wrong CPUID chain.
EDIT: I should add that I don't have Windows as bootable partition and the boot-camp partition is messed up and I don't have another license key for my Windows XP x64 bootcamp and Win7 won't install without a system partition.
