I voted the first option, but its not 100% true. There is a big difference between a huge salary, and barely making it by, but you didnt give any more options. So its not a very good poll, imo.

I buy top end cards, mainly because I have a large res that needs more horsepower.

I couldnt agree more. I make a little under 50k and 500 bucks now and then doesn't break the bank too badly. My 24 incher gets hungry rather frequently!

I don't make a "huge" salary, but it definitely allows for some decent upgrades. Luckily, I don't see the point in spending money to stay on the bleeding edge (e.g. QX6700, SLI GTXs, etc.) so it doesn't cost quite as much for me to be happy with my rig. The E6600 at stock clocks is very very fast, so I don't mind at all to wait for the quad cores to drop in price before I upgrade my CPU. I can always bump it up to 3.2-3.4 GHz if I feel the need for speed...

I can't wait to see what R600 has to offer...if it offers little over the 8800 series then I say bring on the 8900 Ultra!

There should be another answer that says something like, 'I dont make a huge salary but enough to afford a new video card once a year'. Alot of us are just normal working stiffs that arent rich but can afford a new toy now and again.

I have a job so I can afford to upgrade every 6 months or so...depending on what mood I'm in and what game I'm currently playing.
