Does anyone know any alternatives to deadlifts? I just hate that exercise and would like to try an alternative if there is one.

You could try a combination of exercises the hit all the same muscles. But one of the appealing things about the deadlift is that it is a full body exercise, which (so I have read) entails a different dynamic than single muscle exercises.

Agreed. I personally don't do deadlifts because I am unsymmetric and it screws up my hips, but deadlifts are an awesome exercise.

I hate to be harsh like the other posters, but they are right. The deadlift is a compound exercise that works just about every muscle in your body to some degree. Primary would be the lower back, hips, neck and traps. Your grip also gets a good workout as well.

There really isn't any other lift or combination of lifts that can replace it.

Why do you hate them? They are my favorite lift.

An alternate exercie that mainly isolates the lower back is tough to come by, I don't know many others. The trick is most other reps working your lower back are secondary and mainly focus on something else, like situps you do properly with a straight back. Pushups can do it if you are heavy or maybe have some weight on your back. Squathrusts could also work, since it is a crouch that involves the pushup stance.

Or you could practice suplexing somone you love/hate. If not that, a big sack of potatoes/rocks.
