Pretty much, yeah.

I wish the SAT II writing was part of my SAT. I could have probably broken 1400 (out of 1600) then. I got a 1330 (740 on math, 590 on english), but got 780 on Math2C and 700 on Writing for SAT II. And then in literature I got a 580. lol.

SAT is a joke... I came to the US 4 years ago from Israel and got an 1160 on it with very minimal practice... Don't worry about it, go in and do it. The only thing that sucks is staying focused for 3-4 hours when you start realizing you're taking a dumb test :/

Comparatively speaking, an 1160 is not that good.

And for the most part your SAT score does not mean sh!t.

Yeah, beacuse you know GPA, Extracurricular Activities, Volunteer work, and formal essays (UC's requre 3 essays) don't have as big an impact as the SATs

not as much as the SAT. a 1600 and whatever GPA will get you into any UC. a 4.0 and a 1100 with all the extra cirric. in the world will not get you into UCB, LA, and (prolly) SD

Riiightt... this turned into a 'my SAT score's wiener is bigger than yours' sausage festival. 90% of post above = retarded.

If you guys were anywhere as smart as you claim to be you would see why arguing about your SAT score over the internet is dumb as hell.

Didn't know it would turn into this, I guess I should have figured. Oh well...

It's funny how the media is overhyping the hell out of this "New SAT".

Wrong, I knew a girl who got grades below 3.0 and an 1100 on her SATs that goes to UCLA, UCLA is highly dependent on extracurricular activities.

Wrong. SATs really are not that important in college acceptance. Well, except if that is the only thing the applicant is relying on.

I did nothing in high school, no activities, nothing. I had maybe a 3.2 GPA. But a 1470 on my SATs got me $20,000/year in scholarship money.

SATs count, unfortunately colleges don't realize they are meaningless the way we do.

Are you white?

I like how all the News Stations are hyping this new SAT as harder and much more complicated than the previous one.

Considering I scored +40 points on my Math IIC compared to my SAT Math and +110 points on my Writing compared to my SAT English, I think the new SAT is actually easier.

The first and only time I took the SATs I got a 1250. Most of the people I knew got around the same their first time, and then took them again and did better. I was afraid I wouldn't do any better, and didn't WANT to take them again, so I didn't, and still got into a prestigious school, I'm guessing based on activities, GPA, class rank, etc.

A 1300 would've enabled me to apply for a few more scholarships, but oh well, I was really glad not to have to take them twice.

(Verbal's my low point, I suck at interpreting that crap. That's why I'm going into EE. 🙂.)

Oh, and just to show you how little the SATs mean, a friend of mine got a 1220, took them again and just did a SLIGHT BIT of vocabulary preparation, and got a 1380.

In california mostly everyone takes SAT1s then if your applying to a UC its good to take your SAT2s. ACT isn't really important, from what ive heard is if you fck up your sat take acts, theyre easyer.

suckers

you will be so happy once your college apps and SATs and all of that are over with. man what a good feeling it was for that to be behind me.

anyway, theres still the BS of getting a job out of college awaiting me.
yay

i believe that soon the UC's are going to require you to take the ACT's. Not positive though. And to clear it up, the new SAT's took away the analogy section in the verbal part and added an essay. They also added some Algebra 2 into the math section, supposedly making it a bit more advanced.

edit: so how were they for all you juniors who took the new one and maybe the old ones earlier? what was the essay topic (if you are allowed to say it)? I've taken the old SAT's, but not the new ones (frosh in HS right now...) and the old ones were pretty easy. The math was ridiculously easy, and the verbal section is just getting a lot of practice with roots, suffixes, and prefixes...
