Hi there, I am the former webmaster of frysad.com. I was shut down due to legal action from Fry's electronics. Anyway it looks like the LA times has started posting the Fry's ad on their site in almost the exact same fashion that I used to do on my site. That is the entire page as an image map with individual ads linked for a detailed view. I always thought that this was the best way to do it.

In any event I am sure the the times will not have to worry about legal action so this feature hopefully will stay there for some time. they are actually displaying all their print ads at:

http://latimes.p2ionline.com/shoppingchannel/rop

for Fry's select:

Technology>Fry's

That was a cool site. Before people would post it here, I would always look forward to your visiting your website.

The san jose mercury news does it as well. Same method but I find it a bit tedious. I can hardly see what I am about to enlarge. I would prefer to get the whole page a little bigger. Well its better than nothing and it allowed me to cancel my san jose mercury news subscription since I only got it for the fry's ad anyways.

I'd be willing to bet they can do it because Fry's advertise with them... Probably pay extra for the service!!!

Izkoo tho. You fought the good fight while you could. :D

Just wanted to say that I was a big fan of FrysAd.Com and I really appreciated your work to get the site up for everyone.
Fry's sucks for hassling you - don't know why a company would want to stop somebody who was helping them make sales FOR FREE!
Anyway, thanks.

Yea... I only visted frysad.com once before it got shut down. That really sucks. It's not fair.

For those who remember frysad.com

Sure I do, with the small and large zooms, must have been Gigabytes in Xfer.

I too was shocked to hear about your problems, another point (besides their rebates and sell-returned-as-new policies) against these people.

I appretiate your time and efforts back then.

why would they pursuit a legal action against you? Am I wrong when i said your actually helping them advertise? They must be stupid to not take advantage of ur service for free

Because if there EVER was a case of a misprint and Fry's permitted this site to exist then someone could use it to get some extra discounts.

Hey Frysad,

Why not just post links that bypass all the OCRegister other ads (Which we are not interested in) and just give us links that open up the frysads every friday?

I would guess that the prix that Fry's has as lawyers convinced Fry's to do this so that the prix could bill Fry's for some hours.

Just so we are clear, Fry's never actually sued me, they only threatened to, which was quite enough to cause me to shut down.

They were not happy with the banner ads on my site for what they claimed to be their competitors. The laws they threatened to use against me were copyright laws and domain name laws. I think I could have won if I had chosen to fight but at what cost to me? I did not even make enough from the site to pay for hosting, so it just wasn't worth it.

Thanks for the supoprt though and I hope that answers some of the questions.

thanks for the update on where the ads are now. That is a nice hot deal.

And thank you for being the trendsetter by posting the ads earlier than Fry's even figured out they should consider it. You are awesome.

Good luck on your future ventures

FrysAd, you offered a great service to ppl like us and also free advertising to Frys. It's a pity they were so far up there own a$$es they couldn't see the great opportunity that was presented to them. I couldn't believe it when they threatened you with legal action. Frys cutting off their nose to spite their face. Thanks for the work u put in.

Do any of the Dallas papers post the local Frys ads online? I've looked a little and not seen anything.
