Well if you use http://www.addall.com when you shop for books, as you should, then you are probably already aware of a site called http://www.bookcloseouts.com. Recently I discoved a store very similar to BookCloseOuts called http://www.allbooks4less.com the prices seem very close however, their selection is quite different so if you can't find it at one store try the other.

BookCloseOuts currently has a coupon that will give $5 off a $25 order.
AllBooks4Less has a promotion where if you buy three books the fourth one is free. Of course, the least expensive book will be the free one, so choose wisely.

I've not ordered from AllBooks4Less yet however I have ordered at least a half a dozen times from BookCloseOuts. Great service and very slow shipping. Maybe because they are based in Canada. (Hockey RULEZ!!!!!) :)

Enjoy everyone.

Have about 100 books I'm trying not to toss into the trash right now, mostly sci-fi stuff, wish they were worth shipping to someone.:(

Allbooks4less.com opened a while back - I go into the promotion that you could order 3 books for free every time you logged on - ( I got 6 books by the way)
shipping got in my way.

But I have ordered since them from them. They ship quickly and they do have good contact. Had a book missing once and they sent it to me right away and
they apologized for it. I do not recall if that is the time I got a second book for free - similar title. but over all I recomment the store

P.S. they just redesigned the site - its a bit faster. I recommend you do ur search in amazon - get the book id and go to allgbooks4less
their selection is a bit older - but u sure can get most of the books u want

Mr subgenius,
If you live in the jersey area I could be interested in removing them from your place of residence. I love to read and usually shop flea markets. If it is a choice between finding books a good home and trashing them please find them a good home. I still have almost every book i've ever bought... I recently moved and moving books sucks, but I can't throw them away (flashbacks to the living books in Fahrenheit 451, an early read).

ChurchOfSubgenius - if you are really going to throw them out you might consider donating them to your local library. My usual mode of operation is that of HankD, but after moving several times I had to sort through and all the SciFi/Fantasy etc... that I knew I would never read again went to the local library, and seeing as its tax time if you figure the cover price for each one you may have enough for a deduction :)

I agree with aviris

books deserve good homes and dumpsters are not good homes, libraries (or is it librarys) are good homes.

Take your books to a used book store and get credit to buy different books (they pay very little as cash, but store credit lets you trade about 3:1).

Always check the ISBN with Amazon.com. I just looked up a nice CD guide bood, the Penguin Guide to CDs, and all books showed the publishing date as N/A, but Amazon showed the ISBN as the 1996 edition, 6 years older than what Amazon has available.

BTW the trade term for most of these discount books is remaindered, ie anything shipped back from stores as overstock etc. In many cases they are seriously lame seasonally published titles, nice dust jacket, no sane person would want to read the contents.

Hankd, you'd have to beat me to his exit. Unfortunately I'm not sure that I ready to drive to
Michigan in Feb.

CotSg: The public library may not want them, but there are probably reading programs,
ymca, or salvation army types that would be glad to accept them.

Like HankD I and my wife don't throw away books. Our 4 bedroom house has bookcases
in every room and still there are boxes of books unpacked.

ahh....the wonder of e-books! I used to have a couple thousand paper and hardbacks.....but moving 5 times (gotta stay ahead of the law!) with all those books became too much of a hassle. Finally broke down and bought a RCA REB1100 and never looked back! They are fairly inexpensive compared to what they were when they first came out (now about $149 on pricewatch). AND, if you have the right freeware, you can just convert regular .txt files to be easily read in the REB1100. :)
