For those that complain about Bethesda game bugs (especially Skyrim)

I don't like Bethesda games at all. Well, maybe I should rephrase that: I don't like Oblivion, Fallout 3, or Fallout: New Vegas. Bugs are definitely a part of it, but it's mostly because they're really boring, have terrible combat, uninteresting/generic storylines, and repetitive/generic environments. (There, I said it.) :)

That said, Skyrim certainly looks pretty, and is probably interesting to explore. But I don't see anything else going for it right now. *shrug*

Yes, but if she had syphilis you probably wouldn't. Weird thumbs would be like if the game sometimes had a unexplained green sky and blue grass, but these games crash to the desktop, they corrupt save games after 40 hours of game play, have quest bugs that make it impossible to finish the game (and no what to know that it is a bug with out looking it up on the net), and have NPC's that fall though the world but still attack you successfully. This is not weird thumbs, this is a crippling STI that leaves festering sores in places you don't want to fester.

lol:

"It is an absolutely beautiful friggin’ game, and anyone not lauding it as such should get a slap. Both in terms of art direction and the Creation engine’s ability to effectively give your eyes a blowjob, it’s just really damn pretty."

As someone who played Arena when it first came out, and every release in the series since, it is definitely possible for Skyrim to disappoint me.

It won't be because of bugs, though.

I've so looking forward to this game, been in the mood to play an open world RPG for the last few months and purposely been not playing one waiting for Skyrim. One of very few games I'm getting day one this year. I just wish it and BF3's release date weren't so close grr!

Bug be damned, I've enjoyed Beth games. I'll be there on day one. Hopefully not cursing at the screen. I even scheduled the day off so work and the family can't bother me while I get my nerd on.

I can live with some bugs. I simply hate the level up system of Morrowind and Oblivion. On Youtube you can watch people beat Morrowind without ever leveling up... that ruins an RPG in my opinion.

Maybe I dreamed but I think it was discussed a while back that they "revamped" the leveling system.

But I 100% agree with you, the leveling system in Morrowing and Oblivion was poor.

I agree with most of those assessments, especially the combat one.

You can beat Morrowind in under 2 minutes :)

You can however get great leveling mods for both that make the systems much better. That's why I usually wait for the GOTY version because it give the community enough time to fix the things that Bethesda f*ks up.

Anyway, from someone who played Arena and Daggerfall shortly after they were released, any bug in Morrowind or Oblivion were pretty tame compared to the nasty ones in those two games (which I still loved)!

I would have to disagree with the leveling "issues". Remember they are open world games. You have the choice to just run through it, but then it's not an RPG if you do that is it since you missed most of the quests/story? It's a choice. Just because it's an RPG doesn't mean you need to grind to go up levels.

I do agree with the crappy combat in the TSE series though. Doing live action combat with D&D rules is cumbersome because even though your screen says you hit them - the D&D rules say you didn't..etc. I never liked how every enemy in the game just RUNS at you either so you are forced to run away then "attack" and/or run backwards the whole time.

That being said, I loved Daggerfall and Morrowind, and Oblivion just bored me to tears (Nehrim seems much better).

I suspect you've never played FO:NV, which is actually is an Obsidian game which has a pretty good story (especially for some of the vaults).

One of the buggiest games ever. I really hate bethesda sometimes, their QA department is non existent.

Certainly Skyrim will have plenty of bugs, but it's a given in such complex sandbox games. At least the engine powering it is better than that dinosaur GameBryo they were using. I'll buy Skyrim on day one, but I do expect to encounter bugs, it's nothing new in games like that, and it's not because "Bethesda made it". What I don't like to see are game-breaking bugs, but I really don't give a rat's ass about a misplaced door or a small hole on the back mesh of some shack somewhere in a forest that I would have noticed by coincidence. What I hate are CTDs or freezes, those kind of bugs are game-breaking for me, I endured enough of them in Oblivion and Fallout 3, so I'm not sure how much of it I'll be able to sustain in Skyrim and I know it will happen, it's a guarantee.

You mean GameByro 2.0 ? They are marketing it as Creation because Gamebyro leaves a sour taste in many mouths.

Meh, Fallout Vegas still crashes 50 times just starting the launcher and while it's annoying, I let it go (shouldn't, but meh).

What's got my attention is that the animations are supposedly better/good. Oblivion and Fallout all looked like everyone walked/moved around with a stick up their ass.

All games have bugs. I doubt Skyrim will be any different. Publishers don't usually have the patience to give the devs time to do thorough Q&A testing these days. At least by my definition of thorough.

Contrary to what most people say, I tend to agree with you. I liked Oblivion, and havent played FO/NV.
However, I tried to get into Morrowind several times, and just felt like I was running around the world wasting my time, and never could get into it even though I really wanted to. And I didnt like Fallout 3 either. Guess I must have not chosen the right upgrades or done the right quests or something, because I kept getting killed constantly because the guns seemed weak, and any good gun never had enough ammo.
But I am looking forward hopefully to skyrym. Really want a good RPG, since the last ones I played were Dragon Knight Saga and Dragon Age 1.
