For those that care... new MS optical mice are being sold now!

I've seen a few posts asking when will the new MS optical mice with the better scanning rate be available. Well i just bought a intellimouse optical from Onvia, and there is a sticker on the front of the box that reads "Improved Optical Technology, now 33% faster!". So i'm guessing this is it, ehh?

Btw, i've never used the old optical mice before, but i must say, this is the damned smoothest mouse i've ever used, period! And there are no problems with picking the mouse up, and having to wait for it to recalibrate itself when putting it back down - it works instantly. And the tracking so far is perfect, never misses a turn. I've very happy.

It was $41 at Onvia (cheaper than at my local computer store by like 15 dollars, but i think buy.com had it for 38 or something). However, Onvia has free shipping, and i ordered it Monday night at like 11pm, and got it today morning!

I got one from Staples with a coupon, ended up being $30 shipped. It's a great mouse. I like it better than the Intellimouse Explorer...

I tried the explorer in a display in staples like 6 months ago. I'm not sure if that sample was broken or not... but it seemed that the main left clicker was TOO sensitive, so i actually had to try NOT to click the button - i had to use my muscles to keep my finger off the button until i wanted to press it. Are they all like that?

Either way, the intellimouse optical is much better

are you all talking about the new ones? are they different in shape or buttons? hmm.. maybe I could sell this one and get a new one!

O yeah, there is a market for used mice. I would just throw it in with a system I sell to someone.

Hmm, MS press releases stated November time frame for 2.0 optical mice. I only know because I was gonna hold off until then. Is there any official "2.0" designation anywhere?

"Improved Optical Technology, now 33% faster!"

I guess thats it, you wont go wrong with a label like that.

It feels plain funny though... The mouse is like the explorer, but white, and has the directional buttons on both sides to make it ambidexrious.

What's the part number on that bad boy?

D58-00002?

Anyone have D58-00001?

I coulda sworn the 2.0 mice weren't gonna be out until October/November. And you all MS ain't on time, so they definitely aren't early! 😛

So, since I bought one last month am I screwed or what? (Definitely beyond my 30 day return time, if I even had the receipt)

are you talking about the little white intellimouse (MS) or a completely different model.... must be different cuz the white ones have been in Missouri for like 3 months at least, and we're at the bottom of the "hardware chain". I've used the little white ones and did not like a smuch as my explorer. Then again I have extremely large hands and am right handed.... And yes, the left clicker is a little too "loose", if you rest your hand too far forward the wieght of your finger will click it.
