For those that bought the Epson 860 hot deal on a Scanner

I just bought the Epson 860 and was looking at the scanner deals posted here. Epson has a $30 rebate for those that buy both a scanner and a printer. This rebate is in addition to the $50 rebate on the printer. Epson makes two very highly rated scanners the Perfection 610 and the Perfection 1200U

Onvia has the 610 for $90. Add something for $10 to get over $100, then use the $25 dollar Onvia coupon and the $30 Epson coupon to get this scanner for $35. It includes a USB cable.

The other way you could go to Buy.com and get the 1200U there for $159. Use the Buy.com $30 off $150 coupon and the $30 Epson rebate to get this scanner for $99. This also includes a USB cable.

The only caveat is that the 610 seems to be weak in OCR.

Epson 1200u is simply the best for the money, hands down! If you need to upgrade your scanner, now is the time. And that's a darn fine price at Buy.com in the first place even without coupons!

If you check the Epson web site, you'll find 860 drivers for all flavors of Windows and then some. I'm quite happy with my $40 printer from onvia.com.

For us Californians, regardless of whether we buy it from Buy.com or Onvia.com the total will come out to roughly $120 after rebate.

PointClick has 5% back, if you trust them, for using Buy.com. Hope that helps a little. The 1200U has a list of $249. Getting one of the best scanners out there for $120 is still pretty good. I tried using the free shipping, but only one coupon per purchase:disgust:

<Edit>Sorry for the mistakes, I was in a hurry getting to work this morning. The links above got messed up too.<Edit>

Is the 636 a better scanner than the 610? From looking at Epson's web site, it seems the 636 is marginally better (has higher list price and a couple extra features), but buycomp has the 610 priced higher than the 636. Wierd.

Buy.com sells Epson Perfection 636U for $70.45 in the regular section and for $89.99 in the CLEARANCE section as refurbished!!! Whats the deal?! How come refurbished one is 20 bucks more than the new one?!

I received the epson printer 860 from onvia today and really like it. Now i want to get an epson scanner and be able to use the coupon for buying both. I can't seem to find an epson scanner that i can use for the coupon that supports windows 95. Yes, i'm still using win95! Any one know of one?....vroom

hkchan-

Go to the Epson rebate page and look at the example given. It clearly states that both rebates can be used.

I think the 610 replaced the 636.

Free shipping tomorrow through Friday. Also read a post to at ARSTECHNICA-The 1200 works fine in Windows 2000. There's also a 2000 driver for the 860. I have it running great under windows ME.

The $25 off of $100 coupon from Onvia found at many deal sites (all capital letter code) doesn't seem to work anymore(took care of cookies too). I think it may be expired.
anyone tried that?

Hrm. Curious, from Buy.com, when they offer Free Shipping, can you no longer use Coupons?

BTW: No, the 636 or 636U replaced the 610 Scanners

The 610 replaced the 636/636U, atleast according to C-Net. Makes sense, as I know the 636 has been out a long time.

With Epsons, who knows. Every design looks the same. Though it seemed that 636U was the new revision of the old 636. Ahhhh Tired.

Who's got the 1200u? I have a question - whenever it's on, the "Operate Light" is always blinking every once in a while. I don't think that's supposed to happen - any clues why that's doing it?

I notice that Buy.com has this for $80.95. Combine that with the $29 back from Brands for less and the rebate.. $21 delivered!
Epson 610:p

They also have the Epson 1200U Photo for $233.95. WOW! With coupon and rebate--double WoW! This is my scanner and I love it, its fast and does everything I need.

Okay, figured it out. That blinking is from the event monitoring (to see if you've hit that SCAN button on the scanner).

Hrm. the 1200U & 1200U Photo's main difference is only the transparency adapter, am I right? ~~ Since I don't need the transparency adapter. I'm probably going to get the 1200U
