for those that are of arab descent

destrekor

Lifer
yesterday on our school's tv broadcast morning announcements, one of the announced was talking about the arab-american club. he pronounced arab, 'ay-rab'... is this a slur? I guess he got yelled at a bit by a couple different people.

im asking anybody, but specifically those of arab descent, does it matter how its pronounced, and if so, how should it be pronounced?

POLLAGE!!!!

edit:
im bad at making the whole phoenetic (sp?) thing... but i think you two are thinking the same pronounciation as i am'

air-rib would just be more smashed together than it looks... airib (no particular key syllable)
or ay-rab.... my way of saying a 'long a' so its like a-rab... there's a symbol for a long a sound (sound like hay, but the 'a' sound)..

It's pronounced "a-rab" with the "a" from apple and the "rab" prounced like in "rabbinical" (haha!). Accent on the "a"
