What voltages do you use? I'm running 2.4 right now on stock voltages, wanted to ask around before doign anything.

Since you guys are slow I went ahead and did it anyway, wouldn't boot at stock (1.5) volts so I upped it to 1.55, now running at 237mhz FSB giving me 2.6ghz.

Stock for a 3500+ winchester is 1.4v not 1.5v...however if you are running a Neo 2 board that probably undervolts it to 1.44v anyways...

Bump it to 1.5v set and 3.3-5.0% over vid....

I see you set it to 1.55v....So what does it say it is giving with cpu-Z program?? I think I only get like 1.48 out of that....So basically yu have some room left....

Make sure you test it. I can run things at 2.76ghz but doesn't mean it is anywhere near stable...

I know I haven't tested it yet but I'll get to it.

My BIOS says it's at 1.5v, which is weird but CPU-z says it's at 1.4 (even after I change it in the BIOS). Any way I can fix/do something about this?

Yes....

I know default on my board tries to set it to 1.5v...

1.5v set = 1.44v actual as read by 3 diff programs and bios

Me and you have the same mobo buddy.

Anyway I set it to 1.55 (which is max for the motherboard...), but CPU-Z and Everest still say it's 1.4v. But when I upped the voltage to 1.55 in the bios it worked (whereas when it was 1.5 it didn't) so I know something changed...

What bios??? Matbe a newer bios like I am running 1.41 fixed a reporting issue. Try sopeedfan as well as the update to corecenter...

I changed CPU Voltage from "by VID" to "5%" and now I'm getting the right readings. I'll run Prime95 again at a real 1.5v.

I am at 2.64 GHZ using 240 x11 and only have overvid set to 3.3%

What is everyone else getting out of there 3500+ prime stable??

PVD what's your vcore set to?

I ran Prime95 at 1.5v (1.425v core, overvid 5.0%), broke down on test 3 in the blend test. I've now got it at 1.5v core, 3.3% and I will run it after I post this but the weird thing is 3.3% at 1.5 should give me something like 1.54v but according to CPU-z, Everest, and Speedfan I only get 1.48 - 1.5 which is stupid...

Damnit, another error within 3 minutes. I ran 1.5 @ 5.0% earlier today for like half an hour stable, I guess that's what I'ma have to go with.

I told you this thing undervolts....What is actually being delivered by the board is less then what is set...

Your 1.5v set and 3.3% overvid giving you 1.48v is exactly what mine delivers.....

I only need that to run 2609mhz or 290fsb....However the fact you error out so quickly an din the blended test which is not as much a stress or heat producer makes me think you will need 1.5v and 5.0% over vid if not a hair more.....

You should run the large FFT or either the 1st or 2nd test, but not the blended test. IMO it never lets the system heat up oir stresses it as much. Want to test ram?? Use memtest86..It is still the best...

Yeah but the thing is as soon as I set it to 1.5 @ 5.0%, the voltage jumps to like 1.54 according to my list of programs.

Duvie do you use a desktop OCer or just the bios? I use the bios right now but I'm getting annoyed with having to reboot each time.

Yep that 1.54 is what I get as well....I use the bios.....I only tried corecenter and I didn't like how it acted. I trust bios for ocing not software....

Yeah I tried Corecenter once but it was so obscure. I know that the one program from the makers of CPU-z can do it but you can't change the voltages etc. And I know the new nVidia Utility can but it only supports old school motherboards as of now. Anyway I use the bios because I trust it (although now since MSI undervolts some things...) but rebooting is soo annoying when you need to tweak stuff.

Anyway running Prime95 right now, full CPU load test, 1.5 @ 5.0%, no errors for the last 3 tests of Lucas-Lehmer. Duvie, what are the rest of your Core bios settings set to (the bios menu where you change clock and voltages)? I don't know what a lot of those settings do, I just leave them enabled/disabled to default.

Well let me grab the book....

HIgh Perfomance Mode = normal
Aggressive Timing = Disabled
Dynamic Overclocking = Disabled
Spread Spectrum = Disabled
Ht Frequency = 3x
Colol'n'Quiet = Disabled
Adjust cpu ratio = 8x .........startup for you will be whatever stock multiplier is...3000+ = 9x, 3200+ = 10x, and 3500+ = 11x
Adjust CPU Frequency = 330
Adjust AGP Frequency = 67
CPU Voltage = 1.50 v
Over Vid = 8.3%
Memory Voltage = 2.85v
AGP Voltage = 1.6v

under

DRAM CONFIGURATIONS

memclock = 166
1T
2.5
4
8
4

I missed somethings that were placed in their by modded bioses...The NV/ATI speedup things is disabled as well

I'm running mine at 2475 prime95 stable. That's stock voltage on memory and +3.3% CPU voltage. I'm going to try to get to 1.6 later this weekend.

2.61 max so far 237X11 @1.525 v that seems to be about my limit with prime stable I can run 2.718 3dmark03 looping 10 times but Prime dies in less than a minute.

Sparky we have about the same setup. I ran Prime stable for 14 hours, 33 minutes at 2.6ghz with my voltages set to 1.5, 5.0% overvid. FSB = 237 x 11. Totally happy with my OC, but I might try 1.475 @ 5.0% later to see if I can get that stable. Thanks for all the help guys!

Wow, ran 3DMark05 with the new OC, scored 5044. I use the BFG 6800GT OC at 370/1000, 7.1.2.4 beta drivers, nothing really special.

Thanks Sparky, guess I got lucky with my CPU. If you read a few posts above you can see that I ran Prime95 for 14+ hours, no errors.

thats really good...right now im in the tedioius process of trying to get my 3000+ to 2.6GHz...its been stable at 2.43, but any higher and it bonks prime. im givin it 1.62 volts to see once and for all if i can do it or not heh.
