i'd use it to keep track of my finances and all my spending... and important dates to remember... stuff i could probably easily do on paper but too lazy (and i tend to only stay organized for so long w/ paper). i just can't quite afford it yet :p

We are seeing opposite extremes in this thread. NFS4 is getting a ton of use out of his PocketPC, while mine couldn't be more useless for me.

Well, I have ZioGolf, SimCity 2000, and Abobe Acrobat installed to my 256MB CompactFlash card. As for battery life, it really depends on what I'm doing and if I'm using the backlight or not.

How the heck can it play DIVX movies at 206 mhz, moreover, where's the storage??

edit: i have an iPaq (the original one whatever model that is). My dad got it from work. It's been lieing near my computer w/out any power for the past 3 months. Hook me up with some sites, I might get into this whole iPaq thing.

I keep trying to convince myself that I don't need an Ipaq, but that $400 bonus check from work is absolutely burning a hole in my pocket!

I know I can certainly use the pocket word, excel, money, terminal services, contacts, calander, and avant go for work stuff. Must.....resist......urges....

AHHHHHHH!!!!

I can play DIVX movies encodes at 320x240 or smaller just fine on my iPAQ. Same for MPEGs as it will just shrink full size videos down to the screen size of the iPAQ. Videos playback at 20-30 FPS so it's more than adequate.

As for Storage on my iPAQ

- 32MB RAM split between storage/RAM. I'm currently using about 3.61MB of storage space in my RAM. The rest is split up between extra storage and program memory.
- I also have 6.59MB of FileStore which is part of the FlashROM not used by the Operating System (32MB total). I have 1.77MB free of that 6.59MB.
- I also have my 256MB CompactFlash card which I use to store large apps (ZIOGolf2, Simcity 2000, Adobe Acrobat), movies, WMA audio files, etc.

Dont any of you have modems for the PDAs? What good is it over 20$ rolex pda's if you don't use the more advanced features?

I use my m505 for whatever I need it to do at the time I pull it out. documents, games, alarm, it has everything I need.

Nope, I haven't made a PDA thread here in OT in a while (the ones I have posted in GH have been about new product releases or reviews). I made the same "applications list" post a few days ago but that was a thread just about iPAQs started by someone else.

Wow, NFS4! That's a useful Ipaq there.

My PDA runs on WinCE 2.11 (Cassiopeia E-100) but it serves me well:

Calendar
Tasks
Contacts
Notepad
Media Player (MP3s and WMAs)
Palm GB (gameboy roms)
AvantGo
Pocket Streets 2000
Solitaire (not!)
PocketChess (use it like a Chess board to compete with others)

I personally feel that I can do a lot on my E-100 even though it's neither a PocketPC or a Palm OS PDA. There's only been one prog that I needed which refused to run on CE 2.11, which is that Fench dictionary prog (and I need it 'cuz I take French).

I've got a visor. It makes a dandy paper weight. If I could just find something useful to do with the damn thing.....

I have a Palm IIIx and I use mine mainly for calendaring, contacts, Avantgo, Pocket Money, and Notes. Palms are definietly worth it if you really make an effort to integrate them into your daily routine. I stumbled across the PalmOS 4.1 iso the other day and it was a pleasant surprise. ;)

Doubt it. Saw "PalmStore" or some such user selling refurbs with a buy it now price of $129. But I did see morons bidding over that for used ones... Ya never know I guess.

I want one so I can connect it to the OBD-II port on my car and monitor stuff. Found a cool toy for $150 that will let me do that. My CC is just burning a hole in my pocket!

I really wish I had gone to Staples on black Friday. They had a deal for $200 that included the Vx, a bunch of crap software, and a GPS thing. Similar package (less junk included) just closed on eBay for $310.
