How long did it take you to get your diploma in the mail? It's been about a month now and I still haven't seen anything.

I skipped my graduation and it took them about 3 weeks to mail it out. I was not really holding my breath for that useless piece of paper.

Did you actually open the diploma cover and make sure it's in there? I haven't heard of any colleges giving you the actual diploma at the ceremony. Most will hand you an empty diploma cover and mail you the paper itself later.

3 Weeks. Took my wife's university over 2 months to send hers out and on top of that, they sent it to the wrong address. KSU is a joke.

granted this was in 1992 so my memory might be a little fuzzy(jeez i'm getting old) but in the big ceremony they handed us the "fake" empty one but in the second ceremony they handed us the actual one which i'm pretty sure i visibly confirmed.

keep in mind that i've been to many grateful dead concerts, happy hours and amsterdam trips since then but i'm pretty sure i'm remembering that correctly.

There is only one university in America that gives you your diploma at your actual ceremony. The University of Nebraska. I got two degrees from there and yes they were in the cover.

I don't understand why more universities don't do this. In order for it to work you just need these:
1) when you apply for your degree you say whether you want it mailed or to receive it in the ceremony.
2) The university sorts the diplomas that will be handed out.
3) You check in 30 minutes before the ceremony and receive a number card and get in order (Nebraska is by college and alphabetical within each college).
4) During the opening speeches a couple of employees remove the diplomas for the people who didn't check in.
5) As you get your diploma everything is in order so they just give you the one on top, but you carry your number card so incase someone left early there isn't a mixup.

I finished all my coursework in July 2002. I received my tacky looking diploma sometime in January 2003. It is so cheesy that I want to rip it in half and send it back to them...
