The Executive Order that got a lot of people worked up is Executive Order 13083 (put that in any search engine and get a ton of hits) from a couple years back. There was so much controversy that Clinton had to rescind it a few months later. I think this is what bigvince refers to in item 1.

But Clinton is known for abusing Executive Orders to circumvent Congress' legislative authority. There was a minor outcry awhile ago when his advisor, Paul Begala (sp?), was quoted on the subject of EOs with "Stroke of the pen - law of the land. Kinda cool."

Then the question becomes, "How far out is the truth?" ;)

my man bober,

your statement is exactly my point, none of us know and possibly will never know the real truth so who's to say that the truth isn't as far out as something fromthe x-files....

THE TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION....

bigvince, I've got my bug-out pack (80lbs of food and gear in an internal frame pack) rifle and sidearm where I can get to it quickly. I have a healthy respect for the "just in case" side of the argument. But over the years I've heard people say the same things "if this happens all heck will break loose" or "on such a date(insert date) this will happen (end of world, government, whatever)" Every single one no matter how well intentioned have turned out to be just another delusional guy (or constipated). With so many fruit-cakes crying wolf I'm starting to associate crying wolf to fruit-cakes. Are you a fruit-cake? Your theory of a president (clinton in this case) taking over government to a point as to turn into a dictatorial regime just seems a little (ok a lot) fruitcakekey. Let me ask you this, if it's possible for a teeny scandal like breaking and entering (Nixon, watergate) or wang suction (clinton, lewinsky) to get presidents impeached and thrown out of office (nixon) If such little things are enough to break the power of a president, what makes you think that a president trying to declare marshal law improperly can succeed in doing so without being thrown out faster than you can say "two thirds vote"??? Are you sure your not paranoid? I mean there are people that think I'm paranoid for having a bug-out pack on the ready, and I sure don't think I'm paranoid. But if someone like ME thinks YOU are paranoid.... hmm, it should be a red flag to you.

So once our president (soon to be emperor according you the guy who compares himself to jesus) has complete control of the country since the army will just say "well these orders cant be good, but I guess its law..." , what will he do? Is he going to demand we all give him money and want oral sex 8 times a day? Think about it man..
