Should I post a video of what can happen if you decide to text while driving?

I have no respect for people that drink and drive, you have no right to put the life of others at risk due to alcohol.

No need....the results would be the same but people will make excuses for the NEED to use their cell phones while driving.

same thing that happens when you put 5 teenage girls in a SUV, none of which are legally allowerd to drive after 9pm who actually are driving after 9pm and decide to play chicken with a semi

I'd like to see it, but lets leave it in a fresh thread. I just saw this video posted on digg and it reminded me why people should never get behind the wheel after drinking. I personally will not drive in the same day I've drank. I know its being a little overly cautious, but I just feel I'm being on the safe side.

yup....obviously driving while intoxicated hurts your ability to drive and is a huge risk to yourself and others, but because there's no MATWD or MASD (mothers against texting while driving and mothers against sleepy driving if you couldn't figure it out) or similar organizations, they aren't near as demonized.

Guess what, if you drive, you're risking your life, and usually its because the other person is doing something stupid that they shouldn't be.

I feel sorry for her, she was a very attractive girl before the accident. But at least she is showing what can happen after you've had a few too many but still think you are ok to drive.

That was here in Austin; I still remember hearing about it on the news (for about 2 years). :(

I just rated this thread 0 stars, simply because I think its crazy/amusing that you're actually concerned with your topic rating.

Do you wait 24 hours before driving if you had one drink?

Sad, but there are many other things people do every day behind the wheel of a car that are just as hazardous like driving while tired, using a cell phone, texting, etc...

I think far more people are killed as a result of tired driving than drunk driving, but there will never be any statistics to prove it.

That's what I was gonna say. Sure there are people who drink and drive and shitty things happen like the girl was almost killed and her life was ruined, and the two other people in the car died.

However this situation can occur to people who are paying attention to the road, just as well as people who text, talk on the cell.. etc... It can happen in a lot of different situations.

Yeah, but if it is possible to prevent some, what is the harm in spreading the word?

It's less likely to happen if you are driving in an alert state though. "Oh it could happen anyway" is hardly an excuse to take actions which increase the risk of it happening.

Yep. Its always best to assume that everyone around you is going to do something stupid at any given instance. I find that in general, most drivers dont pay full attention to the road for many different reasons.

I always find myself thinking, "what would i do if this dumbass driving toward me cut through the intersection to make a left turn as the light turned red?" It keeps me focused.

You know that your body processes roughly 1 drink per hour, right? So if you have a single beer at midnight, you're most likely safe to drive at 4pm the next day.
