I've been thinking about getting Lasik for a while now, I was looking for a doctor but there are just soooooo many of them. For those of you that have gotten it done how did you find a reputable doctor?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for a doc in So Cal... let me know!

I would check to see if the surgeon has a FACS designation. You can even use the FACS website to find a surgeon.

That said, I would rethink the lasik surgery. the incision to your cornea may damage it (endothelium) and lead to complications.

It's not about the doctor, the doctor doesn't do ******, just collects your cash. It's about the machine and perhaps more importantly the firmware version. The typical LASIK fuckup is a result of nobody at the clinic knowing how to flash their ****** hardware.

Do alot of research...do a search of websites in your area and start reading. Then do multiple consults/visits to various laser centers to get a feel for the doctors/facilities/different lasers. In the end, there are many decent doctors and it depends on which laser machine you want to go with. PM for any technical details.

I got my via word of mouth. I had a buddy who I trust recommend me. He had previously recommended 4-5 people and I also talked to them. They were all happy with their service and so am I. I then recommended at leat 3-4 other people. So ya, if you can, just ask around with friends, co-workers, etc.

Find someone who does them by the dozens per week. They will have the technique down and make the fewest mistakes.
