I just moved into a new apartment. The bathroom is pretty much filthy. I've been using Clorox cleanup and it isn't getting all the mold and stuff off.

Any tips on a product you guys use that works effectively?

You'd love to see what my bathroom looks like. There are shavings all around and inside the sink. There is a stack of Maxim, FHM, and workout magazines on a shelf. There is no toilet paper on the roll thing, just a full sitting somewhere in the bathroom.

Make sure you clean up any soap scum and hard water stains that may be sealing the mildew.

Tilex does an okay job. Make sure you let it soak in.

Maybe try one of those portable steamers? I know someone who swears by it. Never tried it myself.

Scrubbing bubbles works well for me.

It does most of the work for you, then you just put in some elbow grease to get the deep down stains lifted.

The scrub-free way I clean my bathroom of things like mold is not something I suggest you emulate unless you don't mind losing brain cells:

(1) Buy liquid bleach (chlorox), the same type you'd use for laundry
(2) (*optional* step) diulte in a bottle or jar by 50%
(3) insert a spray nozzle into your pure/diluted bleach (I take one from another cleaner)
(4) take a deep breath of fresh air. Hold it.
(5) Spray the hell out of every moldy spot in the bathroom
(6) Close door to bathroom
(7) Breath again
(8) After twelve hours or so, take another deep breath, reenter bathroom, and wipe up any standing liquid with an old towel/t-shirt etc. Splash water where possible over surfaces. If you don't have a ceiling fan, put a standing fan in the door way and open all your windows. Leave your house/apartment for a few hours while the fumes clear.
(9) You now have a sterile bathroom.

Honestly, pure chlorox will dissolve mold as you watch, no scrubbing required. Try it on a shower curtain or peice of tile, its amazing. But you really don't want to breathe that stuff. To give you a bench mark, hospitals typically dilute bleach 1:5 with water and consider anything thus cleaned to be sterile for any purpose except actual surgery. Also, bleach will react with most organic compounds (including urine) to form chlorine. You won't make enough to kill yourself (probably) but aside from being poisonous its also a carcinogen.

What is this "clean" thing you speak of?

Is that like when your woman goes into the bathroom for an hour and when she comes out the bathroom smells like flowers and is all shiny?

You moved into the apartment and the bathroom was like that?? Why didn't the cleaning crew clean that before you moved in?

Pretty long story... Lets just say that the old place I was at got sold... I got paid extra $ to move a few weeks early. It's in the same complex but I am going to be paying less rent than I was, so I figured I'd suck it up and move. I can't even be sure there ever was a cleaning crew

One of the companies makes an indoor bleach product. It works pretty well in our bathroom. Mr. Clean Eraser Sponge thingie would help a lot though, I'll have to try that.

CLR is awesome.

Either that or 'mean green' but I doubt you can find that commercially.

I use Tilex for tile floor and walls (scrub floors with scrub brush). Kaboom for toilet and sink area with a sponge. Comet cleanser on the tub with a scrub brush. Windex on the mirrors with paper towels. Mop floors with Mr Clean.

Yet another reason Americans are becoming such lard asses... they can't even expend the energy to clean up after themselves.
