What do you eat to keep yourself full?

For instance if i eat a nice dinner, by midnight im STARVING. I eat a salad or something, but it seems to make me more hungry.

Just tell me some things that i could eat that are filling, but good to take if u are watching what you eat.

Also, are there any shakes that you can take? Like to take on the go?

Tis my opinion that people should worry less about what they eat, and exercise more.

If you exercise regularly, you will boost your metabolism. Adding strength is key here. A pound of muscle requires 100-150 calories per day just to maintain itself. If you add 5 pounds of muscle, you can eat more...

I guess my point is, you don't have to go hungry if you combine a sensible diet with regular exercise. Being hungry on a diet is for people that sit around. Get some exercise and eat when you are hungry. You'll still lose weight.

and ur opinion is accurate

i workout exercise 3-4 days a week. i've been the same weight for the last 3 months. I'm staying at the same weight b/c i've been gaining decent amounts of muscle while losing some of the fat.

thing is, i want to start eating better to maybe get over that hump. Before i went on this "watch what i eat" thing, i used to eat whatever i want whenever i want. I just would like to try some new things to see how it works out and maybe get my metabolism up so i can go back to eating taco bell at 2am.

Anything high in fiber, it makes you feel fuller faster. I like fiber one cereal, and it's even good dry so you can just have a cup of that stuff without milk and you'll feel like you just ate a steak. Fiber kicks ass. :D

Saltin is right and remember that it does not happen instantly.

Im not on a diet, but i am a known for eating 4-5 meals a day and by midnight i am always hungry. I usually drink more water throughout the day to counter this or a piece of bread if i cant take it.

PS. Fruit. Have an apple or a few grapes.

Willpower is about it. Although something high in protein may keep me going a little longer than something low in protein basically I have a semi-continual hunger. You get used to it though and I do find that tea or coffee or even diet pepsi helps a bit. I also drink a lot of water which is mildly distracting.

You can get lots of shakes for on the go. Check out GNCand you can also get meal replacement bars and what not.

so you think maybe im not eating enough then??

if its 150-200 calories per pound of muscle, and im usually most hungry the nights after a day that im at the gym, maybe i should eat more during the day or not worry about the late night meals.

im just eating the wrong things when i need to eat outside of my meals. Fiber could be a good answer, b/c i know i dont eat a lot of it now. I bet the first week is going to be spent in the bathroom a whole lot.

I've always heard it's around 40-50 calories per pound of muscle. Think about somebody who has put on 20 lbs muscle. They aren't gonna need 3000+ calories/day extra just to maintain it!

How effective are those meal replacement bars in taming hunger?

Also don't forget to get a HOT DEAL on those bars. I think GNC has a "club" you can join for $10-$15, the first Tuesday of every month you get almost anything for 20% off.

Use it enough times and it pays for itself.

Not bad but I don't find their calories to be any more magical than regular food calories in terms of holding off hunger

I have a GNC card - the gold card you get 20% off the first WEEK of each month! Thing is most of their stuff is elevated in price so much anyway. If it's first week of the month I'll compare GNC to Ultimate Nutrition or vitamin world (less frequently this one), but if it's the last 3 weeks of a month I barely bother to compare because I know ultimate nutrition will have the best rates. I try to buy my supplements a month in advance though.

While we're talking about bars the MET-Rx ones are not too pricey if you buy by the box. They have 30+ grams of good protein (not soy for instance) and are FILLED with vitamins and minerals. Malted Ball flavor is hell. Cherry vanilla is better. Chocholate fudge and roasted peanut chocholate are like heaven.
