After hovering just under it for the past couple of years, I finally did it this past year. I'm 38.

Considering the national average is about 33% of the 100K figure, I would guess that 66% of those that said they have made it are full of BS. Furthermore, I would guess that 90% of those above that number in the real world are 35+ years old - most likely 45+ - most everyone here is under it.

Everyone likes to act like they make more than they do - every guy also has a 10 inch dick too...
Frankly, this thread is pointless unless people post PICS...

of their W-2s that is.

Want a picture of my tax free year, when I ran a non-profit, made 300k, and paid zero taxes? ;)

So depressing - my base pay when I was 21 was around 84k but, with overtime pulled in more. My last job, with a much better title (Managing editor) .. $38k.. sigh.

shens on going from 84k+ to 38k

Dude. WHY THE FVCK WOULD I LIE ABOUT THAT?

I worked on a temp basis at Deutsche Bank - my hourly rate was $38 an hour for the first 40 hours and then $57 every hour after (worked an average of 50 hours a week). I managed the designing department (photoshop, powerpoint, and flash work) but lost my job after 2 years.

Then my real career jobs were all much lower pay. Worked at a marketing compay for $40k then, my best sounding title, managing editor at a publishing house, for peanuts compared to the 70+ hour weeks I'd put in.

Now i'm back in school and freelancing so I don't have a steady paycheck, but the stress level is much less than my old job.

Somewhere around 35, although I haven't progressed much farther in the last 14yrs. I've changed jobs several times, did consulting work for many years but always seem to hang right around that $100k figure except for a couple of good years doing consulting.
But I live in a low cost of living area so life is good:) . My current company offered me a position in california that would have increased my salary by 65-70% and I told them HELL NO!

I made $184,256 on my paper route, then I mowed lawns and made $284,332,994,257,246. Not bad for working 2 days a week. I guess you can say I'm just your average 6'5, 250 Tom Brady lookalike genius ATOT member.

LOL, you know your paper route wages are pretty believable, but that much for mowing lawns?

This place is so full of crap sometimes. There is no bleeping way that almost half of the people responding to the poll make over 100K.

Funny how people come in saying $100,000 isn't a lot of money....when the majority of people here are making less than 100k!!
What a pimp slap that is!!

I just broke 75k myself.

Yeah, I could've done better with the lawn service. I would've worked more than 2 days a week if I wasn't busy dating supermodels all the time.

Uggh those were the good old days :( I had serious competition from the illegals and only made $184,255 on my paper route and $284,332,994,257,245 on the lawns :( Had a hard time feeding my family :(

I make 6 figures salary. I my dream world that is... Anyway, this is only base salary & bonus right? How about benefits? 401k match, pension funds, vacation times, sick days, holiday days, insurance? Do those count? If you include all those then yeah, maybe...

27, in CA, making $50K now working for the gov't. My boss, with 30yrs experience, still isn't there yet. However, having a pension is a good thing.

I think a lot of people who make 100k in NYC are on that white powder.
Maybe that is why it doesn't go very far.
