For those of us on a diet who hate drinking water...

I'm on a diet and have cut out soft drinks. I drink 8 oz of OJ in the morning (120 cals) and try to drink water the rest of the day, but water is blah and bland so sometimes I will go with unsweet tea. I'd use artificial sweeteners, but call me paranoid because I don't trust them.

But I knew that drinking water burns calories (reference)), about 17 calories per 16 ounces. So I got the idea to mix 3 ounces of your favorite Gatorade with 16 ounces of water. Each ounce of Gatorade has 6.25 calories, so 3 is 18.75 and so you are drinking 19 ounces and, theoretically, not gaining any calories.

It tastes really good too. I love Gatorade for hangovers and got this idea the other day.

Use a dab of honey for your tea sweetner. Yes, it does have calories. But it's about the best source of sugar you can consume. Half a tablespoon is about 30 calories. It has one of the lowest effects on blood sugar levels of any carbohydrate and is a great energy source.

If you can't afford 30 calories from honey, or the 15-25 calories that a "real" sugar packet provides, then you really need to reevaluate your food intake and get away from the micro-calorie counting.

Jeez what's the big deal with you pansies who can't drink water? Oh god it's so horrible.

BTW, each oz of Gatorade does not contain 6.25 calories. There are 50 calories in 8 fl oz of Gatorade. So unless you mix 3/8 of 3/4 of a scoop of Gatorade, (3/4 of a scoop of Gatorade makes enough for 1 8fl oz serving of Gatorade) which "theoretically" is 3oz, then you might want to recount.

What about the little packets that flavor water, like the Crystal Light to go. Sugar Free and 0 Calories. I have been using these for a few weeks and have gone from less than 20oz of water intake to over 100oz per day. Taste great and a bunch of different flavors, hmm Rasberry Ice.

He doesn't want to do artificial sweetners.

So aside from the fact that my testicles may grow to be as big as my head, are there any hidden problems with using these. I mean it just makes it flavored water right?
