I got a coupla questions for everyone here and I'm hoping to find answers.
First, how do you team up connections? I know it can be done with 56k connections, but I need to be able to do it large scale. Here's the setup. I have 6 different connections to my university connects. Each one is capped at about .5Mbps. We also get discounts on dsl lines, so I'll have one of them to throw into the mix. I want to be able to put all the connections together and pipe it to a 6 computer LAN I'll be setting up inside the dormitory so that if only one person is in the dorm, they get 3Mbps + whatever the dsl...or if all 6 people are in, they just get the standard .5. It's kinda like the inverse of sharing.
Second, does anyone know the software/connection I need to set up a cluster computing environment? All my nodes will be able to run NT, 2k, or Linux as needed?
If you haven't surmised, I want to be able set up an economically sound uber computing environment. A friend of mine somehow accomplished this and didn't ever need to go down to the lab to process his assignments(PhD thesis in CompSci). I'm still an undergrad, so I don't know the specifics. I really don't expect a response, but it's worth a try.
PS - I can run several comps as dedicated routers with multiple NICs 24/7 without trouble as I do not pay the power bill and know how to up the circuit breakers. Furthermore, I have the remnants of an old 486 school network that has served in this capacity without fail before(running linux).
