going to pick up someone early in the morning, i'm in cupertino, need to go to sfo.
expect 'em to get out of custom etc ~8AM
should i go 280 or 101
i think 280 is less busy but the stretch from Sj to cupertino is busy North not sure after that.
any advice?
i need to get back ~9.30Am though.
thanks

take 280 and then 380 (takes you straight to the airport, just follow the signs)
i always avoid 101 whenever i can.. it's always traffic-ed up

Wise words from WasabiCat. I'm from Sunnyvale, so that's how i like to go to SFO as well...it's more scenic too! :)

during the day i've done both routes (w/o traffic)
101 seems seems shorter and faster.
but i take it there is traffic in the morning right? so 280 less busy and faster speed?

ya 101 might be a little shorter..
but i think 280 is much faster.. everyone drives like 80mph there. also the road quality is better, if that matters at all...
280 hardly ever slows down.. even during rush hour it only slows down in the Mountain View/Palo Alto area

dude 101 is like... hell on a monday morning.

take 280 if you have time. 101 will drive you nuts.

last summer i worked perhaps... 25 mins from my house. i had to leave a full hour before to make sure i got to work pretty much on time. yeesh.

Wsp,
nah no shootings or cops chasers in traffic hr, nor in this region, it aint like LA.
freeasia,
i thought 101 is only busy at certain stretches like S san jose.
its busy throughout? hmm didn't know that.

anyone wanna gimme est on time it takes to get there in morning?
and i'll be going as fast as i can, meaning if no car ahead of me , me stepping on gas til i face another car :)
normally takes me ~40 on 101 and +10 to 15 on 280.

Take 280 North, but when you're coming back, do not take 280 South - it's PACKED! I'd take 101 South on the way home.

Ah, 280... such a beautiful freeway... I grew up right off of the Edgewood Road exit (Redwood City). Gotta love that area.

As mentioned, take 280 to 380... that's your best bet.
