For those CIA buffs out there....

My brother has a pretty good clearance with the Navy, and all he ever did was sit down and be honest with the guy asking the questions. Assume they know everything already. [They most likely do. 😉]

Getting clearance is a pretty rigorous process as I understand it (6-12 months). What will make you fail?

Yeah, the NSA owns you now, son.

I'm just wondering if a speeding ticket or anything will disqualify....a friend of mine....who is not me...

Probably will help em, more than anything.

Not likely- remember that time 007 was caught by the cops after that one car chase? No? That's because MI6 hired Bond instead of that guy who the cops were able to catch up to and pull over.

The NSA screens for the CIA?

I'd be pretty worried (though not all that surprised) if they don't. Especially now that they all work under the same Intelligence Czar.

The DSS processes all security investigations.

So is this for the CIA or for another bureau? I couldn't tell if CIA was used as an example or as something your getting involved with.

Well it is actually for a weapons contractor... the guy mentioned the clearance takes a long time since you could possibly work with the government.

It doesn't take a long time because you could possibly work with the government. It takes a long time because it's handled by the government and because depending on the clearance, it could have grave consequences for national security.
