for the RPM monitering pin on the header to work, does a current have to be drawn from the others two?

i am planning on modding my black label delta so that i can still have rpm monitering, but use power from the psu via a 4 pin connector, so i need to know how the rpm pin on the header works. thanks :)

<edit> not the board i was lookinhg for(i thought it was motherboards ) but i guess it's just as good :)

It does not have to draw current from the ohters... I used to run my cpu fan(ys tech) off a 12/7V switch, and kept the RPM wire on hte MB header for RPM monitoring.
