Before I bought the software I did some searches in the forums and asked around to see if Drive Image would image RAID-0 to another hard drive. I got mixed results with an overall opinion of....it should work...but...
I couldn't find anyone that actually did it themselves. I'm writing these steps out for notes that I can use in the future. Maybe they will also help someone else trying to image a raid-0 rig.
It was a little tricky since there's nothing in the manual about dealing with a separate raid bios that you can't load because your boot disketts load first.
To the best of my recollection, this is what I did:
1) I performed the Drive Image prep and install steps (run scandisk, disable boot virus detection, etc...).
2) In the BIOS: I disabled the onboard ATA BIOS (60GB raid bios) and set the IDE HDD to AUTO (45GB IBM).
3) I powered down.
4) I connected the new unpartitioned and unformatted hard drive to an IDE connector.
5) I powered up with the IBM Drive Guide utility boot disk in A drive and partitioned and formated the new IBM drive. Then rebooted.
6) I went back into the BIOS and enabled the onboard ATA BIOS and disabled the IDE HDD. This booted me to my OS.
7) In windows I ran the Drive Image software, which reboots you to its software in DOS. I created a replacement image on the new IBM HDD then rebooted.
8) I went back into the BIOS and enabled the IDE HDD (and left the onboard ATA BIOS enabled).
When I turn on my computer it makes the 45GB IBM the C drive since it loads first and makes the raid 60GB the D drive. In Explorer or My Computer you can see both and they are exactly the same except for the total size.
If I disable the IDE HDD in the BIOS it will boot from the raid drive and make it the C drive. Again, in Explorer you can still see both drives but you can tell C and D have swapped because the sizes are different.
As it stands I'll leave it set this way so I can utilize the higher performance of running my OS on a raid-0 drive. I'll eventually just remove the IBM and stick it in a drawer until I want to update my backup.
I'm gonna play around with it for a while first.
Later.
