Yeah, no kidding. I don't know why cellphones became so convoluted and stupid. Whenever I get a new contract, I generally go straight for one of the phones that comes for free because it's bound to be the simplest. If I can talk to someone on it, that's all I need. Or want.

I also lucked out and found a phone that offered a standard phone ring. The last two phones I had ONLY contained stupid songs for ring choices. No "ring ring ring" like my house phone.

nokia == indestructable and 100% backwards compatibility with accessories. I have more ac and phone adapters than I know what to do with. Nokia for life.

I had 2 high end nokia phones before and yes they are pretty durable, but the connection to the charger went bad on both of the phones.

While there are a lot of features on cell phones these days that I won't want, I do want more than just a basic phone.

For my next phone, I've been looking for something with a 1.3MP camera and bluetooth.

I don't need an MP3 player, I don't need a web surfing capability. Text messaging is nice at times, but I'd rather you just call and leave a voice mail if I don't pick up.

while normally i would agree with you, i want to share this tory with you guys:

when i just got my phone, about 2 days after it got it, it fell. the LCD cracked and i had to pay to get it repaired. they replaced the unit. i guess i got a flunk cause my current one has fallen with nothing happening. most of the 3100's can survive quite a lot.

Ok, now all I need is something like that but with bluetooth and without being made from Motorola. (I've had two different motorola phones in the past and each one was crummy. Slow downs, laggy interfaces and dropped calls. I need to take a break from them)

I miss my Nokia 6190 it was built like a tank (except for the LCD) and the vibrator was really strong.

P.S. Get your mind out of the gutter.

P.S.S. No pics.

I'd much rather have web than camera...bluetooth was worthwhile only for using the phone's web connection w/a PDA. Checking emails or getting directions on the subway/at lunch/out shopping is very handy.

But that's just my needs...

Now mind you, I primarily want a basic cell phone so that it will be cheap (So I don't need to sign a contract to get a cheap phone), small and light (I hate pocket bulges), and easy to use for doing stuff like making calls and checking the call log.

I dunno the model of my phone, but it was free (Nokia)... It looks really plain and boring. I'd rather have something more exciting, but hey a phone is a phone so I haven't bought a new one yet.

That's why I use VIrgin Mobile. I have a $30 phone (Rave) that just makes calls and doesn't do much else. Exactly the way I like it.

I don't like how the plastic bits in the center circle seem to be poking out in the high res photos.

The speaker is lower than on the Razr, so that's good. It's annoying to stick the tip of the phone onto my ear. Most of the sound escapes. :p

I'd be concerned about what the article mentions about the screen in low light situations. Hopefully they resolve that issue.

I've gotten used to bluetooth for my headset, so if they added bluetooth back it'd be perfect for me. Also if it was in a clam shell form, like the Razr or StarTac.

Actually the will be having a high end model for this phone too, one with all the bells and whistles. I think it might be an LED backlit type situation for low light.

I wonder how the phonebook would look, assuming that it would be capable of having one.

Looks nice! I'm all for e-ink, and this phone is just about perfect for me.
