For the people that are truely Happy

JEDI

Lifer
I need to interview perople who are truely happy. (unhappy people need not reply/post in this thread)

Why are you happy? How did this come about?

Why are you happy? Mostly due to the awesomeness that is my wife.

How did this come about? I honestly don't remember, but there was booze involved. It was mostly just luck though.

That's a bit vague. It would behoove you to come up with some concrete qualifying conditions.

I'd say I'm happy, but probably not in the sense that you're looking for. I am fine with how life is right now; sure some things could be better, but a lot of things could be worse. If my present situation were to remain the same forever, I'd probably be content with that.
That's not to say I'm satisfied with everything; I'm always looking to change this or improve that.

I have found that happiness is more just about attitude and how you view things than just about anything else. Changing your attitude can have a greater effect on your happiness level than any drug.

I have known "mentally challenged" people that never got beyond being a janitor and they were some of the happiest people I ever met. I have known genius level people and a few were constantly depressed. I have also met depressed people that were more wealthy than I will ever be, and happy people that were broke as can be.

It's all about how you appreciate what you have and not worry about that which you don't have.

That is an excellent summary. You can find reasons to be unhappy, and you can find reasons to be happy. It's a matter of choice. I choose to see my blessings, my wonderful and supportive family, and the everyday potential for a good day despite the rain. I want to be happy.

I'd say that I'm truly happy. That's not to say that things are perfect - far from it. But that doesn't change whether I'm happy or not. Happiness depends more on the mindset you have than the stuff you have.

Like Malak, I'm a Christian. I'm not gonna turn this into a big religion thread... but my relationship with Jesus Christ has influenced my life and happiness more than anything else.

The only way to be truly happy is if you are lacking intelligence. Look at dogs, they are always really happy and they're dumb as shit.

You have the capacity to be just as happy (and moreso) without having to resort to invented fairy tales.

Yep, I'm quite a happy guy, barring petty annoyances.

I would have phrased it differently, but I think the happiest people are often some of the dullest knives in the drawer.

Per Juddog's previous reply - all mentally retarded/challenged people are happy. All of them, with zero exceptions.

Proving said point.

This, too.

I have my health, some $$ in the bank and a job. A kid that is way, way, way better than I deserved.

In my younger days I lived a life that should have resulted in my death or imprisonment. Since that time I consider every day a gift and no matter what happens I can pretty easily find joy in my life.

Yep. Successful job. Wife has a successful job. It appears that son #1 is going to be very successful in his new career. Son #2 is doing very well at school. Our house is the ideal size, great location (country); very peaceful environment. Plenty of time for recreational activities.

Previous said point about dull knives also applies to a lot of religious people. Blissfully ignorant. I'd probably be happy too if I believed everything was roses and lollipops when I die, but I'd have to be crazy to believe in such nonsense.

you should interview Trident, he's a regular sparkplug, that one.

This is just my own limited experience, but to me it seems like a lot of miserable people have had very easy lives.

Maybe it's part of human nature to need real stress and problems to be mentally balanced.
