when simms are advertised as 4x40 or 4x36, which one is ecc and which one is just parity?

I'd assume the 4x40 was ECC and the 4x36 was parity, but I honestly dont know. I had read your post earlier, but hadnt posted because I am just not of which is which. Sorry to dissapoint you and the other voices, but hey, at least I'm also giving you a bump

i haven't found info on 4x40...4x32 is non-parity and it seems that 4x36 are parity and can be with ecc. for example, if you go to buy simms from crucial the choices are 4x32 non-parity, 4x36 parity non-ecc, and 4x36 parity w/ecc. so it seems like 4x36 can be both?

so would i be correct in assuming that a simm advertised as 4x36 is 36-bits/simm?
