I just read a thread where several posters replied mentioning they are MD's. If that is true, I must ask: Have you ever diagnosed, treated, etc., a patient with Cervical Dystonia? Sometimes it is also referred to as spasmodic torticollis or wry neck syndrome, although there are some nuances between all three terms. This is an incredibly debilitating and painful disease with NO CURE, where early detection is very important, yet extremely difficult.

For now I simply want to know what level of knowledge, if any, the medical professionals have of this condition.

Thank you.

I am not a neurologist.

Thank you for the reply. I saw 3 or neurologists in my attempt to gain a diagnosis, and they never mentioned this as a possibility. The first doctor to raise CD as a possibility was my family doc, who is an osteopathic physician. This was later confirmed during an IME via my private disability insurance provider. This doctor had no previous knowledge of my history or what my family doctor said, this was a blind exam so go figure.

My sternoclesiomastoid feels like I have a charlie horse in my neck almost 24/7, and I often wake up with my chin digging into my right shoulder. 😡

Just please refer any patients who complain of chronic neck pain and headaches to the right department. By the time one's neck is so screwed up it is way too late. I have had fusion surgery (C4-C5 with titanium plate, cadaver chips replacing the disc), countless other procedures, epidurals, root blocks, facet blocks, etc prior to the CD diagnosis.

Thanks again.
