Inconsistent is an understatement when we're talking about what I have to deal with out here. One day, the internet will work perfectly, things will download swimmingly, etc etc etc. The next day (hour, minute second), I'm timing out trying to connect to Google, Yahoo or Hotmail.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9, and I'm using the onboard LAN. I've got Verizon DSL, and my modem is a Westell infoSpeed. I know that this isn't much in the way of information, but I can't think of anything else that might be relevant. I've been running tracert on all the websites that I normally go to, and I haven't seen any consistent router problems in any of them. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen any problems at all.

So umm... any suggestions that you all can give, I'd be more than willing to follow. I'm just trying to fix my internet connection so I can download files without killing my internet connection to the point where I have to turn off the DSL modem for a couple minutes to get the damn internet to even want to connect.

Help!

In General you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer?s Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify
If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet

If need to Reinstall; Log to this page it have a lot of links to instructions for Windows Network Installation - http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html

When it is working, Optimizing & Measuring the "Speed" of Internet Connection.
