Everything I've ever read regarding cleaning LCD's has said NOT to use that.

It's the impact that bothers me more than anything. LCDs have soft fronts. Poking them can damage them. There's a Dilbert on this topic, I have it hanging in my office. People seem to have gotten the hint.
