You get up at 0830? Try going to bed before 0400. LOL! J/K. I don't do well in lecture situations or staff meetings either. I need to be busy, else I will nod off. I had the damndest time trying to stay awake in school as well. Coffee helps...so does chewing gum. Staring at the girl with the big hooters is a distraction as well, but then you can't get up out of your seat until the bloodflow goes back to the rest of the body where it belongs. ;)

Good luck, sleepyhead.

Eat right, get decent sleep, & avoid caffeine.

Staying awake was an added bonus when I did those things.

I've had caffeine maybe three times in the last month, & I've been MUCH more alert driving home.

Were you sleeping the same amount and during the same hours before this started? Are you having trouble getting up, or do you get up easily but feel sleepy later?

Your problem seems to be that you are getting anywhere from 6.5 to 8.0 hours of sleep. There is a huge difference in getting 6.5 or 8.0. You need to stay consistent because it helps your body adjust to one method instead of a chaotic one. :)

those hours of sleep are reasonable. I think you are lacking energy. When you wake up, do you eat breakfast? Try making some sunnside eggs with toast (ummmm) and a nice cup of milk. Also a semi cold shower might wake you up. I don't drink coffee, so I wouldn't know or recommend it. I hate morning classes. The worse. That is why my entire schedule for the past year has been afternoon and evening classes. Damn, you talking about classes gives me the chills. School starts for me Sept 20th. =(

danny~!

Is it just sleepiness or real fatigue that's knocking you out?

It could be you're not getting quality sleep despite the no. of hours. Or it could be a deficiency that your body is trying to make up for. Like Viper said, you need proper Zzz's, healthy food and exercise to keep your body functioning properly.

If you're noticing any other odd bodily symptoms, haul yourself off to the doc to check you out....hopefully it's not the onset of an illness.

Good luck!

Me, I usually resorted to a coffee in morning classes:)

I have problems falling asleep in class as well. I think the best solution is to really try to think about and understand the material that you are listening. Keep asking yourself, "what does this mean?" If you're more engaged in your classes you won't doze off as easily.

I used to have mints with me when I would have to go to class. The sugar in them would keep me awake during class, and my breath would stay minty fresh!

**Maybe it's a tumor?***
**Arnold says** It's not a tumor!

LOL! She's right, though. If anything persists, i.e. chronic fatigue, get to a doc.

Sit at the front of the class. Having the threat of the professor picking on you for sleeping in his class always kept me WIDE awake. :D

sit in the front row, keep eating candies (or chewing gum), keep taking notes, or just start drawing on your notebook
